The SwarPlug synth plugin includes Dimdi and over 100 other perfectly sampled
virtual Indian instruments. It can be loaded in most VST, Audio Units and AAX compatible DAWs
(Digital Audio Workstations) like Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live, Protools, FL Studio etc... It also
comes with lots of ready-made MIDI loops for each instrument.
Dimdi is a hand-sized instrument that fits comfortably in your hand. They have a one-of-a-kind structure. One side of it is covered, while the other is left uncovered. They have circular frames with a 7-8 inches diameter and a depth of 2-4 inches deep. It is very similar to Kanjeera.
Musician beats the drum with one hand, while the other applies pressure to the skin to create very interesting tone modulations. The Dimdi is a solo instrument in Indian music, but it can also be used to accompany other instruments.
Today, Dimdi is frequently heard at folk festivals. It was performed at the "Shilpgram Utsav-2015" National Festival of Folk Arts and Crafts.
